Manchester United vs FC Midtjylland 2016 preview: Under-fire Man United out to avoid further humiliation

Manchester United will look to erase memories of their shocking first-leg defeat with a win when they host FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League’s last 32 on Friday.
United threw a one-goal lead in Denmark that saw manager Louis van Gaal attract more criticism in this wretched season. But, Van Gaal enjoyed some breathing space as his young side swept away Shrewsbury Town 3-0 in the fifth round of FA Cup.The Dutchman believed that the win in the FA Cup did give confidence to his players but they have to reproduce the same result if they want to qualify in the last 16 of the Europa League.
"I have congratulated my players, I was very pleased but now we have to beat Midtjylland,” Van Gaal told post the win at Shrewsbury.
"It is also possible to beat Midtjylland but it is not easy because they are very organised and we saw that in the away game,” he added.
But United will be without their star goalkeeper David De Gea against the Danish side at home. The Spanish international was injured in the warm-up ahead of the first leg in Denmark and misses out again having failed to recover in time. In his absence, Sergio Romero has done a commendable job and will keep his place between the sticks.
